Legacy Builders

EVERY BELIEVER A LEADER
Text: 1 Peter 2:9-10

Series: Legacy Builders

We know that God has a plan for each of our lives. But are all of us called to lead? In this "Legacy Builders" series, we put aside worldly notions of what a leader looks or sounds like, to focus on God’s idea of leadership. Get ready for deployment!

Discussion Guide

1) I Am Chosen By God (v9a)
God has chosen us for a noble purpose – to be set apart from the world and to reflect His character to the people around us. How do you feel, knowing that you're chosen? What does being chosen mean to you?

Some Christians may not be convinced that they're chosen. What are some common reasons Christians may have for not believing they are chosen? Will you trust in God's word that you are indeed chosen by Him? Why? What other hindrances may prevent you from trusting God's word? How can you overcome them and boldly step into God’s plan for you?

God is intentional in His choices. He has His reasons for bringing you through experiences in your past to prepare you to be an influence for Him today. Take time to reflect. What is one defining moment that God brought you through? How has it shaped you into the person you are today? What do you think God is trying to show you through the experience?

Today, God has intentionally placed you at where you are now. Are you fulfilling your calling to be God's holy people? How do you know? What do you think God wants to do through you at your workplace, campus or family?

2) I Am Chosen to Influence (v9b – v10)

Leadership is influence. Do you agree? Why? What does it mean to be an influence?

Jesus calls us to be salt and light. What are the characteristics of salt and light? What do you think that means in your context? Think about the people you interact with and people within your sphere of influence. It could be a family member, your colleague or an acquaintance. How do you think you can be God’s channel to bring His truth to them?

We have the opportunity to build a spiritual legacy that will last. How would you want people to remember you when you're gone? How are you investing your time, resources and talents today to build a lasting spiritual legacy? For some of you who are parents, how can you leave a spiritual legacy for your children?

As a Life Group, we can encourage one another and work together to influence and make an impact through GO! LG. Reflect on your past GO! LG experience. What have you done well, and how can you do better? How can your LG continue to share God's love and grace with others?
