Why We Gather As A Church

While Life Groups are important, gathering corporately as the larger body of Christ is paramount too. Find out why we need to value the privilege and benefits of coming together as a church.

Discussion Guide

1) Opportunities to Contribute
Share with your neighbour one talent/gifting that God has given you. What do you think is the purpose of your gift? How can you use this gift meaningfully in the context of the church? Using the illustration of human body in 1 Corinthians 12, what do you think Paul is trying to teach the spiritual body, the church, with regards to contribution? As the Bible clearly states that we are “one body many parts”, every organ and part is important to the body. Are there times when you feel that your contribution is “less important” than someone else’ or your contribution is “better/more important” than someone else’? How can you correct this perception?

2) Resources to Meet Needs
Read Acts 4:32-35 – what was the outcome of believers who “were one in heart and mind”? Why were they so willing to pool their resources to bless those in need? Why is it important that the church identifies and meets needs? In this regard, what are the benefits of coming together as a larger church? Reflect, what motivates you to do your part to meet the needs of people around you? What may hinder you from giving generously to bless those who need help? What does it mean to invest in people and not just possessions?

3) Realignment to Fulfil God’s Purpose
Reflect, in your current life now, how are you fulfilling God's purpose? In your own words, share what you think is God’s purpose for the church. Why do you say so? Why do you think people are easily distracted from the purpose of God and how can we realign ourselves? How can the Life Group help each other to refocus and sync our dreams and desires to God’s?
