When We Let God Be God

In the midst of confusion, fear and doubts, how can we still hold onto the truth that God is good and sovereign? Let's learn how we can take on the right perspective of who God is in our lives.

Discussion Guide

1) Enlarge my view of God (v2-15)

The preacher mentioned that how we respond when we go through “Why God Why” moments reflects how well we really know God. What are the different ways people use to cope with their “Why God Why” moments? When we go through such moments of wrestling with God, what could distract us from focusing on God? What are some ways that helped you to focus on God and develop an enlarged view of God?

The Word of God gives us an accurate perspective of who God is. How do you think believers can rely on the Word of God to enlarge their views of God? What do you think are some challenges believers face in growing in the Word? How do you think we can overcome such challenges as a Life Group?

2) Renew my faith in God (v16-19)

When our view of God is enlarged, our faith will be renewed and deepened. Describe a time or season in your life where God used the circumstances in your life to renew your faith in Him. What do you think are the characteristics of a renewed faith in God? What are some habits we can cultivate in order to have a thriving faith in our walk with God?

Habakkuk responded by waiting patiently for God’s victory and rejoicing confidently in God’s promise. In a time of waiting, how do you think our heart posture should be? Are there situations in your life (e.g. in your family, finances, health) where your faith needs to be renewed? What are the promises of God that you can claim in your situation?
