Imparting Values

Whether we find family life challenging or comfortable, the Bible challenges us to get out of our comfort zone and be active channels of God's values at home. Let's learn how we can do just that!

Reflection Points
1. Teach God's values (Deu 6:7-9)

Why do you think it is important to teach God's values? What are some ways you have shared God's values in your family? How would you speak about God's values to pre-believers in the household?

2. Model God's values (1 Tim 4:12)

Why is setting an example important? What are some areas in your life where you need to start modelling God's values to your loved ones?

Discussion Guide
1. Teach God's Values (Deut 6:7-8)

Why do you think it is important to impart God's values through our words? What are some creative ways you have used to share God's values in your family? Our family members may include both believers and pre-believers. What are some ways we can impart God's values to our pre-believing family members? As a spiritual family, we should also teach God's values within the Life Group. How can you play a part in sharing God's values within the fellowship?

2. Model God's Values (1 Tim 4:12)

Besides teaching, we also need to model and live out God's values. Why do you think setting an example is important? Who is a positive role model you look up to, and why? How did he/she model God's values? What are some areas where you can start living out God's values in your family?

Values are both caught and taught. It is important that we do both - teaching and modelling God's values. If you have tendency to do one or the other, how can you train yourself to get better in both?
