Pray forthe Nations
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. – Acts 1:8
In other words, our great shared Commission isn’t fulfilled until all nations have heard of the Good News of Jesus Christ. As we develop compassion and commit ourselves to praying for the nations, we must open our spiritual eyes to see what God is doing and how He is moving.
40 years ago in 1978, Evangelist Billy Graham prophesied that Singapore would be the Antioch of Asia. Antioch (in modern day Turkey) was one of the most influential cities of its time. The church of Antioch was a sending base from which missionaries were sent into other cities and countries.
As we pray for the nations and God’s Antioch call upon Singapore, may we also consider how we can take hold of our calling to be the Antioch of Asia.
“There are parts of our calling, works of the Holy Spirit, and defeats of the darkness that will come no other way than through furious, fervent, faith-filled, unceasing prayer.” – Beth Moore
